Kathy and Rob and Ryan arrived at mother's house. I hugged Rob and said:
"Hey Rob, long time, no see."
He responded (in the flurry of hellos, I am sure he just misspoke): "Yeah, it has been nice, hasn't it?"

We were out eating pizza with all the kids, Dad and Sue. Kathy was in the bathroom. We were telling Dad how much we enjoy his emails. Someone mentioned that Dad had referred to Rob as his "almost son-in-law". Sue turned to Rob and asked, "Are you getting married?" Way to liven up the conversation, Sue!!! We all have wondered that at one time or another...
Rob stammered and we all laughed. "Well," he said, "I am not sure I would be a good married man."
I asked, "Have you not already been living the life of a married man?" He replied, "Yeah I guess."
Sue said, "Well with someone as pretty as Kathy, you should before someone else snatches her up."
A few minutes later, Kathy had returned to the table and we had repeated the conversation she missed line by line. Sue turned to me then and said, "Not that you're not pretty too..."

We were eating lunch at the children's museum. Kevin was talking about last minute shopping he needed to do. Mom said she needed to go buy one more present. I asked her who it was for. She said, "Not you."
So I asked again. Who is it for?
She leaned over and sort of whispered in my ear, "Ryan." I asked her did she not already have enough for him. She said she needed one more. I asked her what the present was. She whispered in my ear, "Teddy Kennedy's autobiography." Wow, I thought, that is an unusual choice for a 5 year old. She had meant that the present was for Rob. I told her that I thought she was getting that for Ryan, not Rob. She laughed and said, "Well, Ryan is VERY advanced."
